Partially overlooking both the sea and the dock, Room 2 offers a comfortable and peaceful stay in the heart of Robin Hood’s Bay, just steps from the sea. From the side window you can glimpse the bay and hear the waves below — a gentle reminder that you’re right on the water’s edge.
This inviting double room captures the traditional seaside charm of The Bay Hotel, furnished in a simple, classic style that reflects the character of the building. It features a comfortable double bed with crisp white linens, a wardrobe, mirror, and bedside lighting.
Although not ensuite, Room 2 comes with its own private external bathroom located just a few steps along the corridor. The bathroom is for your exclusive use and includes a shower, toilet, basin, soft towels, and complimentary toiletries.
Guests staying in Room 2 have full access to all areas of The Bay Hotel, including the bar, family dining room, balcony terrace, and outdoor seating by the dock — perfect for a morning coffee or evening drink as the tide rolls in.
Ideally situated on the Cleveland Way and at the official finish of the Coast to Coast Walk, this room is a favourite for walkers, couples, and those seeking an authentic coastal getaway.

The Bay Hotel is located right on the waterfront at the bottom of Robin Hood’s Bay — one of the most picturesque coastal villages in North Yorkshire.
We’re around 6 miles south of Whitby, just a 15-minute drive along the scenic A171 coast road. Follow signs for Robin Hood’s Bay, then turn left down Station Road, which leads into the village. From there, follow the narrow cobbled street that winds down the bank toward the sea. The Bay Hotel is right at the very bottom, overlooking the slipway and the bay.
From Scarborough, we’re about 17 miles north via the A171. Follow signs for Robin Hood’s Bay, then turn right into Station Road and continue through the village until the road narrows and slopes steeply toward the sea. The Bay Hotel sits directly at the end of the road, on the right-hand side, beside the dock.
Please note that there is no public parking at the bottom of the bay. Guests may drive down to drop off luggage, but parking must be in one of the public car parks at the top of the bank — just a short walk away via the cobbled streets. During busy periods, we recommend unloading first, then parking up before returning on foot.
Due to the historic nature of both the building and the village, The Bay Hotel is not wheelchair accessible. There are no lifts or chair lifts within the property, and access throughout Robin Hood’s Bay involves steep banks, cobbled streets, and narrow alleys. While the setting is undeniably beautiful and full of character, it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. Although local taxi company Bay Taxi's do offer their services up and down the bank.
