How to Find Us
The Bay Hotel is located right on the waterfront at the bottom of Robin Hood’s Bay — one of the most picturesque coastal villages in North Yorkshire.
🧠Travelling from Whitby
We are around six miles south of Whitby, just a 15 minute drive along the scenic A171 coast road. Leave the A171 at Hawsker and follow the B1447 towards Robin Hood’s Bay. Continue along this road as it winds down Raw Pasture Bank and into the village. Follow the narrow cobbled street that leads downhill toward the sea and you will find The Bay Hotel right at the bottom, overlooking the slipway and the bay.🧠Travelling from Scarborough
From Scarborough, we are about 17 miles north via the A171. Turn off the A171 and head down Sledgates, following the road through Fylingthorpe village before reaching Robin Hood’s Bay. Continue downhill into the village until the road narrows and slopes steeply toward the sea. The Bay Hotel sits directly at the end of the road on the right-hand side, beside the dock.
🚙 Parking
Please note that there is no public parking at the bottom of the bay. Guests may drive down to drop off luggage, but parking must be in one of the public car parks at the top of the bank — just a short walk away via the cobbled streets. During busy periods, we recommend unloading first, then parking up before returning on foot.
♿ Accessibility
Due to the historic nature of both the building and the village, The Bay Hotel is not wheelchair accessible. There are no lifts or chair lifts within the property, and access throughout Robin Hood’s Bay involves steep banks, cobbled streets, and narrow alleys. While the setting is undeniably beautiful and full of character, it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
